There are 2 ways to learn:
- Look at your iPhone’s model number, which is indicated on the reverse side of your device’s packaging (barcode part).
- Go to Settings > General > About (“model” item).
1 or 2 letters after the numbers to the “/” symbol (6th or 6-7th symbol in your model’s number) specify market and warranty service region.
- B - Great Britain and Ireland (“O2” operator -> locked) / iPhone 4 can be either locked or unlocked.
- BZ - Brazil (“Claro” and “VIVO” operators -> locked).
- С - Canada (“Fido” and “Rogers” operators -> locked) / iPhone 4 can be either locked or unlocked.
- СZ - Czech Republic (“O2”, “T-Mobile” and “Vodafone” operators -> unlocked).
- DN - Austria, Germany, Netherlands (“T-Mobile” operator -> locked) / can be either locked or unlocked.
- E - Mexico (“Telcel” operator -> locked).
- EE - Estonia (“EMT” operator -> locked, but it’s possible to remove a sim lock under additional conditions).
- FD - Austria, Liechtenstein, Switzerland (“One” (Austria), “Orange” (Liechtenstein, Switzerland) and “Swisscom” (Liechtenstein, Switzerland) operators -> locked, but it’s possible to remove a sim lock under additional conditions).
- GR - Greece (“Vodafone” operator, unlocked).
- HN - India (“Airtel” and “Vodafone” operators -> locked).
- J - Japan (“SoftBank” operator -> locked).
- KN - Denmark and Norway (“Telia” (Denmark) and “NetcCom” (Norway) operators -> locked).
- KS - Finland and Sweden (“Telia” (Sweden) and “Sonera” (Finland) operators -> locked).
- LA - Guatemala, Honduras, Columbia, Peru, Salvador, Ecuador (“Comcel” (Columbia), “Claro” (Honduras, Guatemala, Peru, Salvador), “Movistar”, “Porta” (Ecuador) and “TM SAC” (Peru) operators -> locked, but it’s possible to remove a sim lock under additional conditions).
- LE - Argentina (“Claro” and “Movistar” operators -> locked, but it’s possible to remove a sim lock under additional conditions).
- LL - USA (“AT&T” operator -> locked).
- LТ - Lithuania (“Omnitel” operator -> locked).
- LV - Latvia (“LMT” operator -> locked, but it’s possible to remove a sim lock under additional conditions).
- LZ - Paraguay, Chile, Uruguay (“CTI Movil” (Paraguay, Uruguay), “Claro” (Chile), “Movistar” (Uruguay) and “TMC” (Chile) operators -> locked, but it’s possible to remove a sim lock under additional conditions).
- MG - Hungary (“T-Mobile” operators -> locked, but it’s possible to remove a sim lock under additional conditions).
- NF - Belgium, France (“Mobistar” (Belgium) and “Orange” (France) operators -> locked, but it’s possible to remove a sim lock under additional conditions). Luxembourg (“Vox Mobile” operator -> unlocked).
- PL - Poland (“Era” and “Orange” operators -> locked, but it’s possible to remove a sim lock under additional conditions).
- PO - Portugal (“Optimus” and “Vodafone” operators -> locked).
- PP - Philippines (“Globe” operator -> locked).
- RO - Romania (“Orange” operator -> locked, but it’s possible to remove a sim lock under additional conditions).
- RS - Russia (“VimpelCom”, “MegaFon” and “MTS” operators -> unlocked).
- SL - Slovakia (“Orange” operator -> unlocked; “T-Mobile” -> locked).
- SO - Republic of South Africa (“Vodacom” operator -> unlocked).
- T - Italy (“TIM” and “Vodafone” operators -> unlocked).
- TU - Turkey (“Vodafone” operator -> locked, “TurkCell” -> unlocked).

- X - New Zealand (“Vodafone” operator -> unlocked).
- Y - Spain (“Movistar” operator -> locked).
- ZA - Singapore (“SingTel” operator -> unlocked).
- ZP - Hong Kong and Macao (“Three” operator -> unlocked).
