Staff, Crew, Airlines, Airways, Information ဆိုတဲ႔စာလံုးေတြကို ဘယ္လုိ ေရးေန သံုးေန ၾကတာကို သတိထားမိပါသလဲ ခင္ဗ်ာ?
ကၽြန္ေတာ္ ရံုးေတြ ကုမၸဏီေတြ နဲ႔ အျပင္စကား၀ိုင္းေတြမွာ သတိထားမိတဲ႔ တခ်ိဳ႕အသံုးအႏႈန္းေလးေတြကို English လို မွန္ကန္စြာေျပာေစ ေရးေစခ်င္တဲ႔ ဆႏၵ ေလးနဲ႔ ဒီ post ေလးကို ပညာဒါနအေနနဲ႔ ေ၀မွ်ေပးပါတယ္။
Staff ႏွင္႔ Crew သည္ Group တို႔ Team တို႔လုိ collective noun ေတြျဖစ္ျပီး လူတစ္ဦးတစ္ေယာက္ကို ထိုစာ လံုးမ်ားသံုး ၍ညႊန္းလို႔မရေပ။
I am a staff at TRUST. လို႔ေျပာပါက မမွန္ကန္ေပ။ I am a team/group at TRUST လို႔ေျပာသလို ၾကီးျဖစ္သြား သည္။
Staff (၀န္ထမ္းအမႈထမ္းမ်ား) ကို လူတစ္ဦးတစ္ေယာက္အား ရည္ညႊန္းခ်င္ပါက a member of the staff (or) a staff member လို႔သံုးရပါတယ္။
ထို႔ေၾကာင္႔ ကၽြန္ေတာ္ ဒီရံုးရဲ႕ ၀န္းထမ္း တစ္ေယာက္ပါလုိ႔ေျပာခ်င္ပါက I am a staff member of this company. (သို႔) I am a member of the staff at this company. လုိ႔ေျပာရပါတယ္။
Staff သည္ (a collection of individual members) ျဖစ္ေသာေၾကာင္႔ သူ႕ကို မ်ားေသာအားျဖင္႔ British English တြင္ plural noun ကဲ႔သို႔ သေဘာထားကာ The staff are very well trained at your company ဟု Staff ကို are ျဖင္႔သံုးသည္။
သို႔ေသာ္ တစ္ခ်ိဳ႕ေသာ American English Speakers မ်ားက singular noun ကဲ႔သို႔သေဘာထားကာ The staff under my supervision is very efficient. ဟု staff ကို is ျဖင္႔လည္းသံုးၾကသည္။
သို႔ေသာ္ British English မွာေရာ American English မွာေရာ နာမ္စား pronoun အေန နဲ႔ညႊန္းပါက အျမဲ အမ်ားကိန္းနာမ္စား ျဖင္႔သာညႊန္းသည္။
ဥပမာ….. The staff are/is very efficient in their performance. They deserve a big bonus. ဟု (their) တို႔ (they) တို႔ျဖင္႔ ညႊန္းသည္။
Staff ကို (s) ထည္႔လိုက္ပါက groups တို႔ teams တို႔လိုမ်ိဳးျဖစ္သြားကာ သီးျခားစီရွိေသာ ၀န္ထမ္းအဖြဲ႔မ်ား ကိုဆိုလိုသလိုျဖစ္သြားသည္။
ဥပမာ….. They are the staffs from my company and a friend of mine’s.
သူတို႔ေတြက ကၽြန္ေတာ္နဲ႔ ကၽြန္ေတာ္႔ သူငယ္ခ်င္းရဲ႕ ကုမၸဏီက ၀န္ထမ္းေတြပါ။
ထုိနည္းတူစြာ I am a crew of American Airlines လို႔ေျပာလို႔မရေပ။
I am a crew member of American Airlines. I am a member of the cabin crew at Qatar Airways. လို႔ေျပာရသည္။
Crew ကိုလည္း Staff နည္းတူ တစ္ခ်ိဳ႕ native speakers ေတြက plural noun အေနနဲ႔ The crew I am flying with tonight are already familiar to me. ဟု are ျဖင္႔သံုးသည္။ တစ္ခ်ိဳ႕ က်ေတာ႔လဲ The crew is divided in their opinions on the best place to go during the layover. ဟု singular noun ကဲ႔သို႔သတ္မွတ္ကာ is သံုးျပန္သည္။ ဒါေပမဲ႔ သူတို႔ကို နာမ္စားအေနနဲ႔ They, Their, Theirs, them တို႔ကိုသံုး ကာ ညႊန္းသည္။
ေလေၾကာင္းလိုင္းမ်ား၏ နာမည္မ်ားႏွင္႔ပတ္သက္ျပီးေရးရာေျပာရာတြင္ airline တို႔ airway တို႔စာလံုးေတြကို သံုးပါက အမ်ားကိန္းလုပ္ကာ (s) ထည္႔ျပီး Airways / Airlines ဆိုျပီး ေျပာရသည္။ သူတို႔ သည္ေလေၾကာင္းလမ္း အျဖာျဖာျဖင္႔ ေနရာေပါင္းမ်ား စြာကို ပ်ံသန္းေနေသာေၾကာင္႔ many ways and lines ကိုရည္ညႊန္းကာ American Airlines ၊ Qatar Airways စသျဖင္႔ နာမည္ေပးထားျခင္းျဖစ္သည္။
သို႔ေသာ္ company တစ္ခု အေနနဲ႔ နာမည္ပံုစံမ်ိဳးမဟုတ္ပဲ ရည္ညႊန္းျပီးေျပာခ်င္ပါက (s) မထည္႔ပဲ ေျပာလို႔ရသည္။
ဥပမာ… I am a crew member of an airline.
ကၽြန္ေတာ္က ေလေၾကာင္းလိုင္း တစ္ခုရဲ႕ ေလယာဥ္ေပၚတြင္ ထမ္းေဆာင္ ေသာ အမႈ ထမ္း တစ္ေယာက္ပါ။
ေနာက္ဆံုးတစ္ခုအေနနဲ႔ေျပာျပလိုတာကေတာ႔ information သည္ uncountable noun ျဖစ္ေသာေၾကာင္႔ ေရတြက္လို႔ မရေပ၊အမ်ားကိန္းေျပာင္းကာ(s)ထည္႔လို႔လဲမရေပ။
I need a new information on this new product. လို႔ an information လို႔ indefinite article (a/an) ထည္႔ ကာေျပာလုိ႔ေရးလို႔မရေပ။
I need new information on this new product. (ကၽြန္ေတာ္ ဒီပစၥည္း အသစ္နဲ႔ ပတ္သက္တဲ႔ သတင္း အခ်က္အလက္ အသစ္လိုတယ္။) ဟု (a/an) မထည္႔ပဲ information ကို ဒီတိုင္းေရးရေျပာရသည္။
မွတ္ခ်က္။ ။ ဒီေနရာမွာ ေယဘုယ်ဆန္စြာဘာမွန္းမသိေသးေသာ သတင္းအခ်က္ အလက္ ကိုညႊန္းျခင္း ျဖစ္တာေၾကာင္႔ (definite article – the) မထည္႔ရ သည္ကို သိထားရမည္။
ကဲ…အခုအဲသည္႔ ေတာင္းထားတဲ႔ new information ရျပီ ဗ်ာ။ ေနာက္ျပီး အဲသည္႔ ရျပီးသိျပီးျပီ ျဖစ္တဲ႔ new information ကို အတိအက်ညႊန္းျပီး ေကာင္းတယ္လို႔ေျပာခ်င္ျပီဆိုရင္ေတာ႔ definite article (the) သံုးကာ The new information you gave me is good. ဟု ညႊန္းသည္။
Information သည္ uncountable noun ျဖစ္လို႔ an information လို႔ indefinite article (a/an) နဲ႔ တိုက္ရိုက္ တြဲေရးလို႔မရေပမဲ႔ သတင္းအစိတ္အ ပိုင္းတစ္ခု ႏွစ္ခု လို႔ ေရတြက္လုိ႔ရတဲ႔ ပံုသ႑ာန္ အသြင္ယူကာ a piece of information / these pieces of information လို႔ေတာ႔ ေရးလို႔ေျပာလို႔ ရျပန္သည္။
Information ကို သူ႔ဟာသူပင္ကိုက singular noun ျဖစ္တာေၾကာင္႔ အနည္းကိန္း အျဖင္႔သာ သတ္မွတ္ျပီး စာေၾကာင္းတည္ေဆာက္ရသည္။ သို႔ေသာ္ pieces of information လို႔သံုးလိုက္ပါက pieces ဆိုတဲ႔ အမ်ားကိန္း ေၾကာင္႔ အမ်ားကိန္း အျဖစ္ သတ္မွတ္ကာစာေၾကာင္းတည္ေဆာက္ျပီး ေရးရေျပာရ မည္ျဖစ္သည္။
သည္ေလာက္ဆို အားလံုးလဲ Staff, Crew, Airlines, Airways, and Information ဆိုတဲ႔ စာလံုးေတြကို သေဘာသဘာ၀သိကာ မွန္ကန္စြာသံုးကာ ေျပာႏိုင္ေရးႏိုင္ပါျပီ။
မိမိ မိတ္ေဆြအသိုင္းအ၀ိုင္းထဲက သူေတြ လည္းပဲ သိသင္႔တယ္ထင္ရင္ ပညာဒါနအေနနဲ႔ ဤ post ေလးကိုဆက္လက္ေ၀မွ်လို႔ ရပါတယ္။
